Boys = 40% of the students
Girls = 100 - 40 = 60% of the students
Boys went to the field trip = 20% of 40% of students = 20/100 of 40% of students = 8%
Girls went to the field trip = 10% of 60% of students = 10/100 of 60% of students = 6%
Total students went to the field trip = 8% + 6% = 14%
