The total ages of father and son is 42 years and the diffrence of thier ages is 22 years. What is son's age now?

Son's age Y
then X + Y = 42..... (1)
and, X - Y = 22...... (2)
By subtracting from equation 1 to 2,
X + Y - (X - Y) = 42 - 22
X + Y - X + Y = 20
2Y = 20
Y = 10 (Son's age)
