দিঘির জলেই শৈবালের জন্ম। দিঘির জলই তার অস্ততিত্বের অবলম্বন। সেই জল থেকেই সে পায় প্রাণ শক্তি। জলের আশ্রয়েই সে বৃদ্ধিপায়, বাচে। তাই দিঘির জলের কাছে তার ঋনের শেষ নেই। কিন্তু এই অনিঃশেষে ঋণের কথা স্বীকার না করায় হীন প্রয়াস দেখায় শৈবালের আচারণে।
