১৭ মে ১৯৭২ পদমর্যাদা পরিচালক থেকে মহাপরিচালকে উন্নীত করার পর প্রথম মহাপরিচালক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন ড.মযহারুল ইসলাম।
