গত শতাব্দীর চল্লিশের দশকে ঢাকা ওয়ান্ডারার্স ক্লাবের হয়ে খেলেছেন বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব। এখনকার ফুটবলপ্রেমীদের হয়তো জানা নেই যে এই ক্লাবটি তখন জয় করেছিল ১৯৫০, ১৯৫১, ১৯৫৩, ১৯৫৪, ১৯৫৫, ১৯৫৬ ও ১৯৬০ সালের ঢাকা প্রথম বিভাগ ফুটবল লিগের শিরোপা। এই ক্লাবটির হয়ে ১৯৪০ থেকে ১৯৪৮ সালের মধ্যে স্ট্রাইকার পজিশনে খেলেছেন বঙ্গবন্ধু।
