সোনারগাঁও বাংলার মুসলিম শাসকদের অধীনে পূর্ববঙ্গের একটি প্রশাসনিক কেন্দ্র। এটি বর্তমানে নারায়ণগঞ্জ জেলার একটি উপজেলা। প্রাচীন সুবর্ণগ্রাম নাম থেকেই প্রাক মুসলিম যুগে সোনারগাঁও এর গুরুত্ব অনুধাবন করা যায়। এই সুবর্ণগ্রাম থেকেই স্পষ্ট ত মুসলিম আমলের সোনারগাঁও নামের উদ্ভব।
