c = 1.75 +0.40x

For equal price per pound of beef and chicken we can write,

2.35 +0.25x = 1.75 +0.40x

$\Rightarrow 0.40 x - 0.25 x = 2.35 1.75 \Rightarrow 0.15 x = 0.60 ∴ x = \frac{0.60}{0.15} = 4$

x weeks after July 1 during last summer

$b = 2.35 + (0.25 \times 4) = 3.35 ∴ c = 1.75 + (0.40 \times 4) = 3.35 a n s w e r : 3.35 $$
