The number of bank accounts holding Tk 1 crore or more increased by 3,362 in the three months through June. According to data from the central bank, the number of accounts with more than Tk1 crore stood at 1.14 lakh at the end of June, up from 1.10 lakh at the end of the March quarter. At the end of June, total deposits in banks amounted to Tk 16.87 lakh crore, with Tk 7.31 lakh crore, or 43.33% of the deposits, held in crore taka accounts. The number of crore taka accounts has significantly increased over the last five years. Businesses are performing well, and the majority of these accounts are institutional or business accounts.

চলতি বছরের আগস্টে জনশক্তি রপ্তানিতে বড় ধরনের বৃদ্ধি দেখেছে বাংলাদেশ। ১৯৭৬ সালে অনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে বাংলাদেশ থেকে বিদেশে শ্রমিক রপ্তানি শুরু হওয়ার পর আগস্টে (চলতি বছর) একমাসে সর্বোচ্চ ১,৩৮,৬৭৫ জন শ্রমিক বিদেশে পাড়ি দিয়েছেন। সাম্প্রতিক মাসগুলোতে রেমিট্যান্স প্রবাহ কমে যাওয়ার উদ্বেগের মধ্যে জনশক্তি রপ্তানিতে এই বৃদ্ধি দেশের বৈদেশিক মুদ্রার রিজার্ভ বাড়াতে ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে মনে করা হচ্ছে। মালয়েশিয়ায় বাংলাদেশি কর্মীদের জন্য পূর্ব-নির্ধারিত কোটার কারণে জনশক্তি রপ্তানিতে এই বৃদ্ধি হয়েছে। গেল আগস্ট মাসে দেশটিতে ৪৬,১০৫ জন বাংলাদেশি কর্মী নিয়োগ পেয়েছেন।
