Contrary to popular belief, present -day historians see the Renaissance as an economic --- and argue that the state of lot of peasants and urban poor , the majority of the population,worsened during this period.

রেনেসাঁ যুগ সম্পর্কিত কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্য:

• Actually European Renaissance began in 14th Century in Italy.
• তবে অনেকে ১৪৫৩ সালে রেনেসাঁ শুরু হয়েছিল বলে মনে করেন।
• Renaissance means- Revival/ Regeneration/ Rebirth, re-awakening (পুনর্জন্ম) of classical (ancient Greek) learning, culture and free thinking.
• Renaissance is an Italian word (মতান্তরে French). It is considered the bridge between the Middle ages and the Modern history.
• রেনেসাঁ চতুর্দশ শতকে প্রথমে Florance শহরে এবং পরে Venice ও Rome শহরে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। তবে, England এ রেনেসাঁ শুরু হয় ১৫০০ সালে।
• Renaissance এর যুগকে Re-discovery of Ancient Civilization of Greece and Rome বলা হয়।
• Renaissance কে Early Modern Period-ও বলা হয়। কারণ, আধুনিকতা ও রোমান্টিসিজমের সূচনা এ যুগ থেকেই শুরু হয়। It started as a Cultural Movement in Italy.
  অনেকে ইতালীয় কবি পেত্রার্ককে Father of Renaissance, Father of Humanism মনে করেন।
• 1500-1558 সাল পর্যন্ত সময়কে England এর Renaissance'র প্রস্তুতি যুগ বলা হয়।
• এদিকে ১৫২৬ সালে পানিপথের প্রথম যুদ্ধে ইব্রাহিম লোদীকে পরাজিত করে জহির উদ্দিন মোহাম্মদ বাবর (1526-1530) ভারতবর্ষে মোঘল সাম্রাজ্য প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছিলেন।
• The Bengal renaissance can be said to have started with Raja Ram Mohan Roy (1772-1833) and ended with Rabindranath (1861-1941). Raja Ram Mohan Roy is regarded as the "Father of the Bengal Renaissance."
