যেসব শব্দ Noun বা Pronoun-এর পূর্বে বসে তার সাথে বাক্যের অন্যান্য শব্দের সম্পর্ক দেখিয়ে দেয় তাদেরকে Preposition বলে।

-He sat on the table.

- She looked at me.

সাধারণ Preposition গুলো হচ্ছে: at above, across. against, among, after, before, beside below, behind, beyond, between, by, down, for, from, in, into, like, near, of, on, over, outside, out, since, to, towards, through, up, upon, with, within, without.

Preposition-এর প্রকারভেদ :

 গঠন, কার্য এবং ব্যবহারের ভিত্তিতে Preposition-কে ছয় ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়। যথা : 

i. Simple Preposition

ii. Double Preposition

iii. Compound Preposition

iv. Phrase Preposition 

v. Participle Preposition and

vi. Disguised Preposition.
