The tongue is a muscular organ in the mouth. The tongue is covered with moist, pink tissue called mucosa. Tiny bumps called papillae give the tongue its rough texture. Thousands of taste buds cover the surfaces of the papillae. Taste buds are collections of nerve - like cells that connect to nerves running into the brain.
মুখবিবর (Mouth Cavity)
মুখবিবর বা মুখগহ্বর (Mouth Cavity/Oral Cavity) হলো মানুষের পরিপাকনালীর প্রথম অংশ, যা ঠোঁট থেকে শুরু করে গলার ওরোফ্যারিনক্স পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত । এটি যান্ত্রিক (চিবানো) ও রাসায়নিক (লালা) পরিপাক শুরু করে, কথা বলা, স্বাদ গ্রহণ এবং শ্বাস-প্রশ্বাসে সাহায্য করে । এর প্রধান উপাদানগুলো হলো দাঁত, জিহ্বা, তালু (শক্ত ও কোমল) এবং লালা গ্রন্থি ।
দাঁত, জিহ্বা, তালু প্রভৃতি মুখবিবরে থাকে। মানুষের দুধের দাঁতের সংখ্যা ২০। পূর্ণ বয়স্ক মানুষের দাঁতের সংখ্যা ৩২টি। দাঁতের এনামেল দেহের সবচেয়ে কঠিন অংশ।
