প্রশ্নে বলা হচ্ছে, প্লাটফর্মে দাঁড়িয়ে একজন লোক লক্ষ্য করলেন যে, একটি ট্রেন 3 সেকেন্ডে তাকে অতিক্রম করলো। বিপরীত দিক হতে আসা একই দৈর্ঘ্যের অপর একটি ট্রেন তাকে 4 সেকেন্ডে অতিক্রম কলে গেল। ট্রেন দুটি পরস্পরকে কত সময়ে অতিক্রম করবে?

Let, length of each train be x meter

Now, we know that time taken by the train to pass a standing man is the some time to pass the length of its own

∴ Speed of the 1^st train, $v_{1} = \frac{x}{3} m s^{- 1}$

And speed of the 2nd train $v_{2} = \frac{x}{4} m s^{- 1}$

This two train have to pass a distance of (x + x) meter = 2x meter.

As opposite direction, we know required time $= \frac{D i s \tan c e}{V e l o c i t y}$

$\Rightarrow T i m e = \frac{2 x}{\frac{x}{3} + \frac{x}{4}} = \frac{2 x}{\frac{4 x + 3 x}{12}} = \frac{2 x}{1} \times \frac{12}{7 x} = 3.42 s e c o n d s .$

∴ Time taken by the two trains to cross each other is 3.42 seconds.

আপেক্ষিক গতিবেগ হলো একটি বস্তুর বেগ অন্য একটি বস্তুর তুলনায় কত তা নির্দেশ করে। অর্থাৎ, একটি বস্তু থেকে অন্য বস্তুকে পর্যবেক্ষণ করলে যে বেগ পাওয়া যায়, সেটিই আপেক্ষিক গতিবেগ।

মূল ধারণা

ধরা যাক দুটি বস্তু A এবং B চলছে। A-এর তুলনায় B-এর বেগকে বলা হয় B-এর আপেক্ষিক বেগ (relative velocity of B with respect to A)।

আপেক্ষিক বেগ নির্ভর করে দিকের উপর।

১. একই দিকে চললে (Same Direction)

$V = V 1 - V 2$

যেখানে V₁ > V₂ হলে আপেক্ষিক বেগ ধনাত্মক হয়।

উদাহরণ:

একটি গাড়ি 60 km/h এবং আরেকটি 40 km/h বেগে একই দিকে চলছে।
আপেক্ষিক বেগ = 60 − 40 = 20 km/h

২. বিপরীত দিকে চললে (Opposite Direction)

$V = V 1 + V 2$

উদাহরণ:

দুটি ট্রেন 50 km/h এবং 30 km/h বেগে বিপরীত দিকে চলছে।
আপেক্ষিক বেগ = 50 + 30 = 80 km/h

৩. স্থির পর্যবেক্ষকের ক্ষেত্রে

যদি একটি বস্তু স্থির থাকে, তবে আপেক্ষিক বেগ = চলমান বস্তুর বেগ।
