Books

What worlds of wonder are our books!

As one opens them and looks,

New ideas and people rise

In our fancies and our eyes.

The room we sit in melts away,

And we find ourselves at play

With someone who, before the end,

May become our chosen friend.

Or we sail along the page,

To some other land or age.

Here's our body in the chair,
But our mind is over there.

Each book is a magic box,

Which with a touch a child unlocks.

In between their outside covers,

Books hold all things for their lovers.

We travel to some other land or age as we sail along the pages of book. (বইয়ের পাতাগুলো ভ্রমণ করার সময় আমরা অমান্য কোনো ভূমি বা যুগে বিচরণ করি।)

Our body is in the chair while reading a book. (বই পড়ার সময় আমাদের শরীর চেয়ারে থাকে।)

Our mind is "over there" in the book's world while reading a book. (বই পড়ার সময় আমাদের মন বইয়ের সেই জগতে চলে যায়।)

According to the poet, reading books can do several good things to us. For example, it gives us knowledge about new idea and people. While reading a book, we can imagine our own life comparing to the characters of the book. For example, we can remember playing with our own friends while reading such thing in a book. (কবির মতে বই পড়া আমাদের জন্য কয়েকটি ভালো জিনিস করতে পারে। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, এটি আমাদেরকে নতুন ধারণা ও মানুষ সম্পর্কে জ্ঞান দেয়। বই পড়ার সময়-এর চরিত্রগুলোর সাথে তুলনা করে আমরা আমাদের নিজেদের জীবনকে কল্পনা করতে পারি। যেমন আমরা নিজেদের বন্ধুদের সাথে খেলার কথা স্মরণ করতে পারি, বইয়ে ঐ জাতীয় জিনিস পড়ার সময়।)

Like the poet I also think that reading books has several benefits. It gives us idea about different people, society, culture, age etc. Thus we can increase the horizon of our knowledge. Besides, reading books is a pleasant pastime. (কবির মত আমিও মনে করি যে, বই পড়ার অনেক উপকারিতা আছে। এটি আমাদেরকে বিভিন্ন মানুষ, সমাজ, সংস্কৃতি, যুগ ইত্যাদি সম্পর্কে ধারণা দেয়। এভাবে আমরা আমাদের জ্ঞানের দিগন্ত বাড়াতে পারি। তাছাড়া বই পড়া একটি আনন্দদায়ক অবসর বিনোদন।)
