Case-1 : Hyperinflation in Arcadia-war and the collapse of monetary control.

Background : Arcadia, a developing nation rich in minerals, has been engulfed in a brutal civil war for 2 years. The internationally recognized government controls the capital and major ports but lost significant territory, including key agricultural regions and oil fields, to rebel forces. The Central Bank of Arcadia (CBA) is struggling to maintain economic stability. Inflation, already high at 25% annually pre-war, has sky rocketed to 180% year-over-ear. The currency, Arcadian Peso (AP) has collapsed on foreign exchange market, losing 70% of its value against the USD since the conflict began. Government faces massive war expenditure while tax revenue has plummeted due to territory loss and economic disruption.

Problem : Governor of CBA convens an emergency meeting. The Ministry of Finance demands the CBA to finance a massive, new new AP 500 billion war-bond issuance (equivalent to roughly 15% of pre-war GDP) directly as private markets are unwilling to lend to the Government at sustainable rates. Failure to fund this could mean the collapse of the military front within months. However the Governor knows the direct monetization of the deficit will almost certainly accelerate inflation.
