The Nobel Prize is the world's most prestigious and important prize. It has been given since 1901. This prize is given to persons with outstanding contributions to physics, chemistry, literature, medicine, peace and economics. Economics was added to the list'in 1969 for the first time. The Nobel Prize was instituted by a man who was the inventor of dynamite. This scientist was Alfred Bernard Nobel. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden on October 21,1833 and he died in December 10, 1896. Though he was a citizen of Sweden, he was educated in Russia. He earned a huge sum of money by selling dynamite. At the time of his death in 1896, Nobel left behind a huge sum of money. He left a will indicating that the interest on his money should be given as prize to persons for their outstanding contributions to physics, chemistry, literature, medicine and peace. This prize was named Nobel Prize. The first Nobel Prize was given to Rontgen on December 10, 1901 for inventing X-ray.

Dr. Muhammed Shahidullah, born on July 10, 1885, in 24 Pargonas, West Bengal, India, was a renowned scholar who made significant contributions to Bengali language and literature. He passed his Entrance exam in 1904 and completed his B.A., M.A., and Law degree in subsequent years. In 1921, he became a Professor of Sanskrit and Bengali at the University of Dhaka. In 1928, he earned a Doctorate from Sorbonne University, Paris. Dr. Shahidullah is best known for composing Bangla Shahitter Katha, the first comprehensive history of Bengali literature, which was published in 1953. He continued his scholarly work until his health deteriorated in 1967, leading to a two-and-a-half-year period of illness. He passed away on July 13, 1969, in Dhaka. Dr. Shahidullah is remembered with great respect for his immense contribution to Bengali culture and education.

Jerry was a very good boy who had been living in the orphanage since he was four. He was honest and brave. The best word to describe his character was integrity.
