Abu Sayeed, a brave student activiste was killed by police on 16 July 2024, during the quota reform protest near Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur. He was the co-coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement and stood for justice until his last moment.
Sayeed was born in Bamanpur village, Pirganj, Rangpur, to Maqbul Hossain and Monowara Begum. He was the youngest of nine siblings. He was a brilliant student who won a talentpool scholarship from his local primary school. He achieved GPA-5 in both SSC and HSC before joining the English department at Begum Rokeya University.
During the protest, police fired bullets and Sayeed was shot four times. He died before being taken to the hospital. Abu Sayeed's courage and sacrifice made him a hero. He will always be remembered for his fight for justice and equality.
