Dengue Fever

Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease which is very painful. It is spread by Aedes mosquito. About 400 million dengue infectior's occur in the world every year. This fever is usually occur in the tropical areas. Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, Southern China, Taiwan, the Pacific Islands, Central and South America are the most vulnerable areas. Symptoms of Dengue usually begin four to six days after infection. It could last for ten days. Sudden high fever, severe headache, and pain behind the cyes, scvere joint and muscle pain are some common symptoms of this fever. Patients may also suffer from fatigue, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, and mild bleeding. In few cases, these conditions could lead to death. Such condition is called dengue shock syndrome (DSS). Till today, there is no specific treatment for dengue infection. Doctors suggest the infected people to take rest, and drink plenty of fluids. One effective way to prevent dengue fever is to prevent bites by infected mosquitoes. But the best way to decrease the risk of Dengue fever is to reduce mosquito population. We can do that only by getting rid of places where mosquitoes can breed.
