Our National Flag

Our national flag is the symbol of our national independence and sovereignty. The ratio of the flag is 10:6. It is usually made of cotton cloth. But it is also made of linen, silk and other fabrics. The green background of the flag stands for the green landscape of Bangladesh. The blood-red sun in the middle bears the memory of millions of martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of our independence. The flag is hoisted on all our national days such as our Independence Day and Victory Day. It is also hoisted at educational institutions and government offices on all working days. We look upon our national flag as a sacred thing. We can uphold its honour by doing our duties honestly, sincerely and trying our best to secure an honourable place for Bangladesh among the nations of the world.
