বাংলা সাহিত্যের প্রাচীন যুগের প্রথম নিদর্শন 'চর্যাপদ '। 'চর্যাপদ ' একটি গানের সংকলন। এখানে ২৩ জন কবির ৫১ টি (মতান্তরে ৫০ টি) কবিতা বা গান রয়েছে। চর্যাপদের প্রথম পদটি লুইপার লেখা। তাই বলা যায়, চর্যাপদের আদি কবি লুইপা।
