জহির রায়হান লেট দেয়ার বি লাইট নামে একটি ইংরেজি ছবি নির্মাণ শুরু করেন। কিন্তু মুক্তিযুদ্ধ শুরু হওয়ায় তিনি তা শেষ করতে পারেন নি। ১৯৭১ - এর ২৫ মার্চের পর তিনি কলকাতায় যান। সেখান থেকে পাকিস্তানি সামরিক জান্তার গণহত্যার চিত্র সম্বলিত স্টপ জেনোসাইড নির্মাণ করেন। ছবিটি পৃথিবী জুড়ে আলোড়ন সৃষ্টি করে।
