 $∴ x - \frac{x}{2} - \frac{x}{2} \times \frac{1}{2} - \frac{x}{4} \times \frac{1}{4}$   =  12
 $\Rightarrow x - \frac{x}{2} - \frac{x}{4} - \frac{x}{16}$   =  12
 $\Rightarrow \frac{16 x - 8 x - 4 x - x}{16}$   =  12
 $\Rightarrow 3 x = 12 \times 16$ 
 $\Rightarrow x = \frac{12 \times 16}{3}$ 
 $∴$  x  =  64
