বাংলাদেশে করতোয়া নদীর পশ্চিম তীরের ধূসর ও লালমাটি সমৃদ্ধ অঞ্চলকে বরেন্দ্র ভূমি বলা হয়। এ বরেন্দ্রভূমি দেশের উত্তর - পশ্চিমাঞ্চলের প্রায় ৯, ৩২০ বর্গকিলোমিটার এলাকা জুড়ে বিস্তৃত। প্লাবন সমভূমি হতে এর উচ্চতা ৬ থেকে ১২ মিটার। এটি দ্বারা বর্তমানে রাজশাহী অঞ্চলকে বুঝায়।
