চলন্ত গাড়ি হঠাৎ থামলে গাড়ির যাত্রী সামনের দিকে ঝুঁকে পড়ে বা হুমড়ি খেয়ে পড়ে যায়। গাড়ি যখন চলমান ছিল তখন যাত্রীর সমগ্র দেহই গতিশীল ছিল। গাড়িটি থামার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে যাত্রীর দেহের নিচের অংশ স্হির অবস্থায় আসে কিন্তু গতি জড়তার জন্য দেহের উপরের অংশ এগিয়ে যেতে চায়। ফলে যাত্রী সামনের দিকে ঝুঁকে পড়ে বা হুমড়ি খেয়ে পড়ে যায়।
