কলকাতায় ইসলামিয়া কলেজে ইন্টারমেডিয়েটে ভর্তি হন। উল্লেখ্য, ১৯২৬ সালে কলকাতা ইসলামিয়া কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। ১৯৪৭ সালে এর নামকরণ করা হয় সেন্ট্রাল কলকাতা কলেজ। কলকাতায় ইসলামিয়া কলেজে পড়া অবস্থায় বঙ্গবন্ধু বেকার হোস্টেলে
থাকতেন।
