১৮ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০১৮ তে বাংলাদেশের সংসদে কণ্ঠভোটে ডিজিটাল নিরাপত্তা আইন-২০১৮ পাস হয়। ডিজিটাল মাধ্যমে প্রকাশিত বা প্রচারিত কোনো তথ্য উপাত্ত দেশের সংহতি, অর্থনৈতিক কর্মকাণ্ড, নিরাপত্তা, প্রতিরক্ষা, ধর্মীয় মূল্যবোধ বা জন শৃঙ্খলা ক্ষুণ্ণ করলে বা জাতিগত বিদ্বেষ ও ঘৃণা সৃষ্টি করলে তাকে এই আইনের আওতায় আনা হয় ৷
