ইমেইল ঠিকানায় @ এর পরের অংশটিকে ডোমেইন বলে। ই-মেইল ঠিকানা @ চিহ্ন (At sign) দ্বারা দুইভাগে বিভক্ত । প্রথমভাগে অর্থাৎ @ চিহ্নের আগের অংশে User name অর্থাৎ ব্যবহারকারীর ঠিকানা থাকে ৷ ডোমেইন নেইম (.) চিহ্ন দ্বারা কয়েকটি অংশে বিভক্ত হয়। @ চিহ্নের পরের প্রথম শব্দটিকে হোস্ট মেশিনের নেম বলা হয়। ১৯৭২ সালে ইমেইল ঠিকানায় সর্বপ্রথম @ চিহ্ন (At sign) ব্যবহৃত হয়।
