50 years ago, on this day, Bangladesh was born out of a bloody war. In the face of a brutal massacre by the Pakistani military, the freedom-loving people of this land, with their unwavering resolve and monumental sacrifices, steered the course of history of the Bengali nation towards a new beginning. Today marks the Golden Jubilee of the Bangladesh revolution. As we celebrate this auspicious occasion, we humbly remember and reflect on the valiant freedom fighters and all the men and women who sacrificed so much to free us from the shackles of Pakistani tyranny. We pay our deepest respects to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who led us in our struggle for freedom and all our national leaders who laid the foundations of an independent nation. In the last 50 years, Bangladesh has achieved countless milestones in its development journey. However, there are also shortcomings which betray the spirit of our Liberation War. Now e would be a good time for sincere introspection and renewal of the pledge to fulfill the dreams of the freedom fighters and martyrs by working to establish a just society, where everyone is free and equal. Let the love of freedom bloom!
