বাংলা পঞ্জিকার প্রথম মাস বৈশাখ। পয়লা বৈশাখ থেকেই সূচিত হয় বাংলা “শুভ নববর্ষ”। আবহমান কাল ধরে এ দিনটিকেই বাংলাদেশের মানুষ খুব উৎসবমুখর পরিবেশে পালন করে আসছে। জাতি-ধর্ম-বর্ণ নির্বিশেষে সকল শ্রেণি পেশার মানুষের অংশগ্রহণের নববর্ষ উদযাপিত হয় । বাঙালি মেয়েরা ঐতিহ্যবাহী পোশাক শাড়ি, ছেলেরা পাজামা-পাঞ্জাবি পরিধানের মধ্য দিযে দিনটি পালন করে। শিশু-কিশোরেরাও নানা অনুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণ করে। প্রতিটি পরিবারই তাদের সমর্থ্য অনুযায়ী। নতুন বছরের প্রথম দিনে ভাল খাবার খায় এবং নিজেদের সংস্কৃতি ও কৃষ্টিকে সমুন্নত রাখার চেষ্টা করে ৷
(Translate into English:)Baishakh is the first month of Bangla calendar. Happy New Year begins with the very Pahela Baishakh. From the immemorial, this very day has been observed with festive mood by the people of Bangladesh. Pahela Baishakh is observed through participating all classes of people indiscriminately of caste, creed and colors. Bangalee girls and boys observe this day wearing traditional Saree and Pajama-Panjabi respectively. Children also take part in different occasions. Each family as per their ability has improved diet on the first day of the New Year and tries to uphold their cultures.
