Passive Voice( কর্মবাচ্য ): কোন Sentence এ যদি Subject কে দিয়ে কোন কাজ করানো হয় বুঝায় তখন তাকে Passive Voice বলে ।

যেমন :

Rice Is eaten by me.

A letter is written by him.

A book is read by Fateha.

Football is being played by us.

Passive Voice (কর্মবাচ্য) হলো বাক্যের এমন একটি রূপ যেখানে Subject বা কর্তা সরাসরি নিজে কাজ না করে বরং Object বা কর্মের ওপর কাজের ফলাফল এসে পড়ে। অর্থাৎ, এখানে কাজটির চেয়ে কর্মটিই বেশি প্রাধান্য পায়। ইংরেজি গ্রামারে সঠিক বাচনভঙ্গি এবং প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক রচনার জন্য ভয়েস চেঞ্জ অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি অধ্যায়। একটি সাধারণ বাক্যকে প্যাসিভ করার মূল ভিত্তি হলো Object-কে Subject করা এবং মূল Verb-এর সর্বদা Past Participle (V3) রূপ ব্যবহার করা।

১. সাধারণ গঠনের নিয়ম (Basic Rules)

অ্যাক্টিভ থেকে প্যাসিভ ভয়েসে রূপান্তরের জন্য নিচের পাঁচটি ধাপ অনুসরণ করতে হয়:

Active Voice-এর Object-টি Passive Voice-এর Subject হয়।
Tense এবং Subject-এর পারসন অনুযায়ী Auxiliary Verb (সাহায্যকারী ক্রিয়া) বসে।
মূল Verb-এর Past Participle (V3) রূপ বসে।
সাধারণত একটি 'by' প্রিপজিশন বসে (কিছু ক্ষেত্রে to, at, with, in হতে পারে)।
Active Voice-এর Subject-টি Passive Voice-এর Object হয়।

ক) Imperative Sentence (আদেশ/অনুরোধ):

ইম্পারেটিভ সেন্টেন্স প্যাসিভ করার সময় বাক্যটি 'Let' দিয়ে শুরু করতে হয়।

Active: Do the work.
Passive: Let the work be done.
Active: Do not shut the door.
Passive: Let not the door be shut.

খ) Modal Auxiliaries (can, could, may, must, should):

মডাল ভার্ব যুক্ত বাক্যে প্যাসিভ করার সময় মডাল-এর সাথে কেবল একটি 'be' যুক্ত হয়।

Active: I can do it.
Passive: It can be done by me.
Active: You must obey your parents.
Passive: Your parents must be obeyed by you.

গ) Double Object যুক্ত বাক্য:

যদি বাক্যে দুটি অবজেক্ট থাকে, তবে যেকোনো একটিকে সাবজেক্ট করা যায় (ব্যক্তিবাচক অবজেক্টটি নেওয়া শ্রেয়)।

Active: He gave me a pen.
Passive: I was given a pen by him. (অথবা: A pen was given to me by him.)

ঘ) Interrogative Sentence (প্রশ্নবোধক):

প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্য প্যাসিভ করার সময় সাহায্যকারী ক্রিয়াটি বাক্যের শুরুতে বসে এবং শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন (?) বজায় থাকে। 'Who' থাকলে প্যাসিভ-এ 'By whom' এবং 'Whom' থাকলে 'Who' বসে।

Active: Who is calling me?
Passive: By whom am I being called?
