Past Participle : Verb-এর past participle form যদি একই সাথে verb এবং adjective-এর কাজ সম্পন্ন করে তাকে past participle বলে। যেমন- He has worked hard. He will have passed.

Past Participle হলো verb-এর ৩য় রূপ (V3), যা একই সাথে verb এবং Adjective-এর কাজ করে। এটি সাধারণত কোনো কাজ ইতোমধ্যে সম্পন্ন হয়েছে বা কোনো কিছুর স্থির অবস্থা বর্ণনা করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

১. গঠন (Formation):

সাধারণত verb-এর শেষে d, ed, t, n, বা en যুক্ত হয়ে Past Participle গঠিত হয়।

• Weak Verbs: Walk $\rightarrow$ Walked, Burn $\rightarrow$ Burnt.

• Strong Verbs: Break $\rightarrow$ Broken, Write $\rightarrow$ Written.

২. ব্যবহারের ক্ষেত্রসমূহ:

ক) Perfect Tense গঠনে:

Present, Past বা Future Perfect Tense তৈরিতে সাহায্যকারী verb (have, has, had)-এর পরে এটি বসে।

• Example: I have finished my homework.

• Example: They had left before I arrived.

খ) Passive Voice গঠনে:

যেকোনো Passive বাক্যে মূল verb-টি সবসময় Past Participle রূপে থাকে।

• Example: The work was done by him.

• Example: Rice is eaten by us.

গ) Adjective হিসেবে (Noun-এর অবস্থা বোঝাতে):

এটি কোনো Noun-এর আগে বা পরে বসে তার সম্পন্ন হওয়া অবস্থা বা গুণ প্রকাশ করে।

• Example: Do not drink polluted water. (পানিটি ইতোমধ্যে দূষিত হয়েছে)।

• Example: I found the lost phone. (ফোনটি হারিয়ে গেছে)।

ঘ) Perfect Participle গঠনে:

'Having'-এর পরে বসে এটি একটি কাজের সমাপ্তি নির্দেশ করে।

• Example: Having completed the task, she went home.

Past Participle সবসময় একটি 'সম্পন্ন অবস্থা' (Completed action) বা 'স্থির অবস্থা' বোঝায়। এটি যখন Noun-এর গুণাগুণ প্রকাশ করে, তখন একে Verbal Adjective বলা হয়।
