The plan of Suraiya Begum is to build an old people's home in her locality and there the old and lonely people will stay together.

As Suraiya Begum is a retired school teacher, she has a lot of free time. She usually reads books, watches TV, visits friends and relatives, and sometimes writes letters to her old colleagues in her free time.

Suraiya Begum is aunt, her father's sister, to Mariam.

Suraiya Begum lives alone because she is a widow and her two daughters are married and live abroad.
