Nelson Mandela was born in Transkei, South Africa, on 18th July 1918. He joined the African National Congress in 1944 and was engaged in resistance against the ruling National Party's apartheid policies. In November 1962 he was sentenced to five years in prison & started serving his sentence at Robben Island prison in 1963. From 1964 to 1982, he was again imprisoned at Robben Island prison & then later moved to Polls Moor prison, during which his reputation as a potent symbol of resistance to the antiapartheid movement grew steadily. Released from prison in 1990, Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 & was inaugurated as the first democratically elected-president of South Africa in 1994. He is the author of the international bestseller "Long walk to Freedom & conversations with myself." Nelson Mandela was the first black President of South Africa. He was in prison from 1962 to 1990. He became President of South Africa in 1994 & retired in 1999. He spent 27 years in prison for trying to overthrow the pro-apartheid government. After he left prison, he worked to achieve human rights & ensure a better future for everyone in South Africa. Nelson Mandela died on 5th December 2013 following a lung illness.

Dr. Muhammed Shahidullah, born on July 10, 1885, in 24 Pargonas, West Bengal, India, was a renowned scholar who made significant contributions to Bengali language and literature. He passed his Entrance exam in 1904 and completed his B.A., M.A., and Law degree in subsequent years. In 1921, he became a Professor of Sanskrit and Bengali at the University of Dhaka. In 1928, he earned a Doctorate from Sorbonne University, Paris. Dr. Shahidullah is best known for composing Bangla Shahitter Katha, the first comprehensive history of Bengali literature, which was published in 1953. He continued his scholarly work until his health deteriorated in 1967, leading to a two-and-a-half-year period of illness. He passed away on July 13, 1969, in Dhaka. Dr. Shahidullah is remembered with great respect for his immense contribution to Bengali culture and education.

Jerry was a very good boy who had been living in the orphanage since he was four. He was honest and brave. The best word to describe his character was integrity.
