Rohingya Exodus

The Rohingya are minority community living in Rakhine State, Myanmar. There were around 1 million Rohingya living in Myanmar before the 2016-'17 crisis. On 22 October 2017, according to the United Nations, around 603,000 refugees from Rakhine, Myanmar had crossed the border into Bangladesh since August 25, 2017. This number increased to 624,000 by November 2, 2017 and over 625,000 by December 6, 2017. Besides, almost everyday more Rohingya people are entering Bangladesh. This is really a huge exodus of Rohigyas from Myanmar to Bangladesh. The majority of them are Muslim while the minority of them are Hindu. They are one of the most persecuted minority communities in the world. The Rohingya people are denied citizenship under the 1982 Myanmar Nationality Law. They are restricted from freedom of movement, state education and civil service jobs. They are deprived of basic rights and privileges. Genocide took place in Rakhine State. Many Rohingya people were beaten and burned to death. Many women were raped. Their houses were burned to ashes. So, they were bound to leave Myanmar and take shelter in Bangladesh and other neighbouring countries. They set up temporary camps in different areas of Cox's Bazar. The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh came forward to help the helpless Rohingya people. Besides, other countries came forward to provide them with basic things. They also donate the government of Bangladesh to help the distressed Rohingya people. The government of Bangladesh is trying to raise an international awareness to get a permanent solution to the Rohingya crisis. It is because the long term stay of the Rohingya people in Bangladesh will put heavy pressure on her economy.
