কোনো পরিমাণের পরিবর্তনকে শতকরা (%) আকারে প্রকাশ করলে তাকে শতকরা হ্রাস বা বৃদ্ধি বলা হয়।

১. শতকরা বৃদ্ধি (Percentage Increase)

যখন নতুন মান পুরাতন মানের চেয়ে বেশি হয়, তখন তাকে শতকরা বৃদ্ধি বলা হয়।

উদাহরণ:

একটি পণ্যের দাম 200 টাকা থেকে 250 টাকা হলো।

বৃদ্ধি = 250 − 200 = 50

শতকরা বৃদ্ধি = (50 ÷ 200) × 100 = 25%

২. শতকরা হ্রাস (Percentage Decrease)

যখন নতুন মান পুরাতন মানের চেয়ে কম হয়, তখন তাকে শতকরা হ্রাস বলা হয়।

উদাহরণ:

একটি পণ্যের দাম 300 টাকা থেকে 240 টাকা হলো।

নতুন মান = মূল মান ± পরিবর্তন

• বৃদ্ধি হলে যোগ (+)
• হ্রাস হলে বিয়োগ (−)
