Participle Phrase
যে কোনো participle তার object বা adverbial সহ Participle Phrase গঠন করে থাকে ।
Loudly knocking at the door, he demanded admission.
Participle Phrase হলো একগুচ্ছ শব্দ যা একটি Present Participle (Verb + ing) অথবা Past Participle (Verb-এর ৩য় রূপ) দিয়ে শুরু হয়। বাক্যে এটি মূলত একটি Adjective-এর মতো কাজ করে, অর্থাৎ এটি কোনো Noun বা Pronoun-এর অবস্থা বর্ণনা করে।
১. গঠনের ধরণ:
এটি দুই ধরণের হতে পারে:
Present Participle Phrase: Verb + ing দিয়ে শুরু হয়। (এটি চলমান কোনো কাজ বোঝায়)।
Past Participle Phrase: Verb-এর Past Participle (v3) দিয়ে শুরু হয়। (এটি সম্পন্ন হওয়া কোনো কাজ বা অবস্থা বোঝায়)।
২. বাক্যে ব্যবহারের উদাহরণ:
ক) Present Participle Phrase হিসেবে:
উদাহরণ: The boy standing at the gate is my brother.
ব্যাখ্যা: এখানে 'standing at the gate' অংশটি 'boy' (Noun)-কে বিশেষায়িত করছে।
খ) Past Participle Phrase হিসেবে:
উদাহরণ: The car made in Japan runs well.
ব্যাখ্যা: এখানে 'made in Japan' অংশটি 'car' (Noun) সম্পর্কে তথ্য দিচ্ছে।
৩. বাক্যে এর অবস্থান:
Participle Phrase সাধারণত দুইভাবে বাক্যে বসতে পারে:
Noun-এর ঠিক পরে: The man sitting in the park is reading a book.
বাক্যের শুরুতে (কমা ব্যবহার করে): Walking along the road, I saw a snake. (এখানে 'Walking along the road' পুরো অংশটি 'I' বা বক্তাকে বর্ণনা করছে)।
৪. Adjective বনাম Participle Phrase:
