A compound conjunction is a phrase used to connect two words or phrases together within a sentence.
Examples are: so that, provided that, as well as, as soon as, as long as, such that, in order that etc.
Compound Conjunction হলো সেইসব কনজাংশন যা একাধিক শব্দের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত হয়ে একটি একক কনজাংশন হিসেবে কাজ করে। যখন দুই বা ততোধিক শব্দ একত্রে মিলে একটি লিঙ্কিং ওয়ার্ড বা কানেক্টর হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়, তখন তাকে Compound Conjunction বলা হয়।
১. সাধারণ কিছু Compound Conjunction-এর তালিকা:
As well as (পাশাপাশি / এবং)
As soon as (মাত্রই / হতে না হতেই)
In order that (যাতে / উদ্দেশ্যে)
So that (যাতে)
Provided that (যদি / এই শর্তে যে)
As if / As though (যেন)
Even if (এমনকি যদি)
Inasmuch as (যেহেতু / এই কারণে যে)
২. বাক্যে ব্যবহারের ব্যাখ্যা ও উদাহরণ:
ক) As well as (এবং / পাশাপাশি): এটি দুটি Noun বা Adjective-কে যুক্ত করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: He is a teacher as well as a writer. (সে একজন শিক্ষক এবং সেই সাথে একজন লেখকও।)
খ) As soon as (হতে না হতেই): একটি কাজ শেষ হওয়ার ঠিক পরেই আরেকটি কাজ শুরু হওয়া বোঝাতে।
Example: As soon as the bell rang, the students left the room.
গ) So that / In order that (উদ্দেশ্যে): কোনো কাজের উদ্দেশ্য বা কারণ ব্যাখ্যা করতে।
Example: He works hard so that he can succeed in life.
ঘ) Provided that / Providing that (এই শর্তে যে): কোনো শর্ত আরোপ করতে এটি ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: I will help you provided that you tell the truth.
ঙ) As if / As though (যেন): কোনো অবাস্তব বা কল্পিত অবস্থা বর্ণনা করতে।
Example: He talks as if he were a king. (মনে রাখবেন, 'as if'-এর পর সাধারণত 'were' বসে।)
৩. Compound vs Correlative Conjunction:
Compound Conjunction: শব্দগুলো সাধারণত পাশাপাশি বসে এবং একটি একক শব্দসমষ্টি হিসেবে কাজ করে (যেমন: as soon as)।
Correlative Conjunction: শব্দগুলো বাক্যের আলাদা আলাদা অংশে জোড়ায় জোড়ায় বসে (যেমন: either... or)।

You can take my car even if I need it.
The agreement was signed in order that peace might be restored.
