A figure of speech which stands for a pleasant way of referring to some-thing unpleasant. (কোন অস্বস্থিকর বা সত্যিকার শব্দের পরিবর্তে অন্য কোন সুন্দর শব্দের ব্যবহারকে Euphemism বলে। যেমন: 'মৃত্যু' শব্দের পরিবর্তে 'পরলোক গমন 'ব্যবহার) The substitution of an inoffensive expression for one considered offensively explicit,

You are becoming a little thin on top (bald).

i) Our teacher is in the family way (pregnant).
ii) He is always tired and emotional (drunk).
iii) We do not hire mentally challenged (stupid) people.
iv) He is a special child (disabled or retarded).
